5.21.23 Lessons Learned from First year in Robotic Practice

Dr. Koerner is originally from Tampa, Florida. She graduated Florida State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology. She attended medical school at the Florida State University College of Medicine. She then completed general surgery residency at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Following residency, she completed a colon and rectal surgery fellowship at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. Dr. Koerner returned to Atlanta to join Piedmont Colorectal Associates in 2021.Dr. Koerner has a special interest and focus on robotic assisted minimally invasive surgery. She performs a wide variety of colon and rectal procedures robotically including colon and rectal resection, colostomy reversal, total colectomy, rectopexy, J pouch surgery and transanal minimally invasive surgery.Dr. Koerner enjoys traveling, hiking and cooking in her free time. When not at work she is spending time with her loved ones.

5.7.23: C.Diff Colitis w/ Dr. Jeffrey Barton

Dr. Jeffrey Barton grew up in St. Louis, MO (Go Cards) before attending Haverford College for undergrad and University of Chicago for Medical School. He completed his general surgery at OHSU in Portland Oregon, and fellowship training at the Colorectal Clinic of Houston with the University of Texas Houston group in 2014-15. After 6 years at LSU New Orleans, where he served as Associate Prof of Clinical Surgery and Associate Program Director of the Colorectal Surgery Fellowship, he relocated in late 2021 back to Oregon and now works for Kaiser Permanente.
