Dr. Jennifer Davids is currently an Associate Professor of Surgery at University of Massachusetts, where she completed her fellowship training in 2013. Prior to fellowship, she completed her general surgery residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Dr. Davids’ clinical practice is focused entirely on colorectal surgery, and runs the full gamut of benign and malignant diseases, with a focus on minimally invasive techniques including laparoscopy, robotic surgery, endoscopy, and transanal approaches. She served as the Associate Program Director of the UMASS General Surgery residency for 5 years, and now is the colorectal fellowship program director. Dr. Davids’ major longitudinal research focus is on the experience of female physicians, particularly surgeons, and is committed to breaking barriers to equity and career advancement at every stage. Her work ranges from evaluating the impact of pregnancy, maternity, and lactation on early- career physicians, to identifying and addressing implicit bias in professional settings. She is on the Editorial Board for Clinics in Colon and Rectal Surgery, and Techniques in Coloproctology, and is an Associate Examiner for the ABCRS and ASCRS Executive Council Member. A Massachusetts native, Dr. Davids is married to an academic oncologist and has two children, aged 8 and 13. In March, Dr. Davids will head to Boston Medical Center to become Chief of Colorectal Surgery.
