Dr. Wasnik is a Professor of Radiology, Division Director of Abdominal & Cross-Section Interventional Radiology, and Chair of the Medical Student Radiology Research at the University of Michigan-Michigan Medicine, Ann Arbor, Michigan. He has previously served as Medical Director of Ultrasound, Director of Abdominal Medical Student Education, and Medical Director of the Livonia Radiology Ambulatory Care Unit at Michigan Medicine.
He is a funded researcher and co-inventor on US-patented automated bowel segmentation techniques. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed papers, 140 scientific/educational abstracts, several book chapters, and two books as a co-lead author. In addition, he has presented over 100 invited lectures. He is an elected fellow of the Society of Abdominal Radiology (SAR) and the Society of Radiologists in Ultrasound (SRU).
Dr. Wasnik serves on numerous institutional and national committees with leadership on several committees. He reviews for over ten journals and is Deputy Editor of Academic Radiology journal.
Dr. Avery Walker is a dual board certified General and Colorectal Surgeon, that has experience in robotic, laparoscopic, endoscopic, and open procedures related to the multiple diseases of the colon, rectum and anus. He completed general surgery residency at Madigan Army Medical with the US Army and fellowship at The Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans. He spent 5 years at William Beaumont Army Medical Center after fellowship serving as the General Surgery Assistant Program Director for 4 of those years. During his time at William Beaumont, he established multiple civilian partnerships with the local hospitals in El Paso to provide specialized colorectal care to the significantly underserved area of El Paso. He also deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan under wartime circumstances as well as multiple humanitarian missions during his time in the Army. He recently separated from the Army in July and stayed in El Paso currently practicing in a very busy community based pure colon and rectal surgery practice.
